Last week, we again visited the London Book Fair, the international publishing trade fair that gathers the world of publishing together to network, meet, and converse with contributors, leaders in the industry, and other professionals from all areas of publishing.
Our colleagues from all over OUP engaged with customers and partners who had made the journey to the Fair from around the globe, using the opportunity to hear their changing needs and how we can help them to advance knowledge and learning together.
Connecting with our diverse communities
Our exhibition booth reflected the range and diversity of our publishing portfolio in the fields of academia, research, education, and assessment and hosted a high level of varying meetings and activities. The topic of discussion ran the gamut from editorial to production, then to marketing and international rights, and involved several worthwhile face-to-face encounters with our English language-teaching customers and partners who traveled from around continents to attend the Fair.
After the first day of the Book Fair, our Oxford Children’s team hosted a drinks reception at our stand, inviting many of our authors, illustrators, agents, booksellers, and industry partners to join us for an afternoon of connection and celebration.
We also revealed Wiska Wildflower, a brand new Oxford Children's series by Harriet Muncaster, later in the year. She is famously successful with her Isadora Moon series, which sold more than 5 million times worldwide and annually is noted by children, parents, and schools on our own special Isadora Moon Day. We welcomed Harriet, along with several of our award-winning authors, to join us at the Fair.
Sharing our knowledge and experience
Academic experts from our department were invited to participate in the main panel sessions on day two of the Book Fair.
John Campbell, Product Strategy Director, participated in the panel discussion for 'Navigating the Future of Publishing: Strategies for Community, Technology, and Compliance.' Throughout his presentation, John discussed how fundamental principles like our solid portfolio and top writers, trust and quality, and impact and value are and will remain central to what we do.
Julia McDonnell, Journals Product Director, participated in a panel on research integrity, discussing the issues that currently confront academic and professional publishers and our best approach to solving them. We thank our international friends, customers, and partners for joining us for another busy and productive London Book Fair with so many critical discussions happening, and we look forward to ongoing collaboration.
